BEULCO moves into the Digital.Hub Logistics: Starting signal for the future
BEULCO signs contract for a place in the Digital.Hub Logistics at the Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund: another step towards the future
At this year’s ISH, the world’s leading trade fair for water, heat and climate, BEULCO took a further step towards the future – on 12th of March 2019 the signing ceremony with representatives of the Digital.Hub Logistics took place. A historic moment for the medium-sized company from Attendorn.
The Digital.Hub in Dortmund, supported by the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML and EffizienzCluster Management GmbH among others, helps companies to develop new products, services and business models in the field of digitization with a focus on logistics and production.
From brainstorming and product development to market entry, the Digital.Hub Dortmund has a unique ecosystem of implementation partners with know-how in various fields.
In the Digital.Hub Dortmund, the company’s innovation teams, so-called Start-Ins, have the opportunity to use a customized competence program consisting of individual service modules, an equipped office in the Co-Working Space as well as access to selected infrastructure, service and consulting networks of the EffizienzCluster, the Fraunhofer Institutes for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) and for Software and Systems Engineering (ISST), the TU Dortmund and other partners of the Digital.Hub Dortmund.
The services of the Digital.Hub Dortmund are based on the following three core elements
- Infrastructure (Space & Community)
- Continuous support (Innovation Coach)
- Service modules based on needs
This creates a dynamic ecosystem – consisting of research and education, start-ins from medium-sized businesses, networks and testbeds supplemented by the areas of Smart Talents. In this way, the Digital Hub creates a highly interesting environment for companies that want to launch new digital products on the market. The Digital Hub was initiated by the digital association Bitkom and is part of the Digital Hub Initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) with a total of 12 hubs.
BEULCO is a provider of products and services in the field of water supply. As part of its corporate strategy “BEULCO 2025”, the company is increasingly focusing on smart and intelligent solutions for the drinking water sector. These new systems also require new and different resources, competences and capabilities within the company. BEULCO has therefore decided to relocate the product development and distribution of new systems to an external location. Due to the good infrastructure, the access to future personnel and the good accessibility of Attendorn, the location Dortmund was considered as favourite from the very beginning.
The existing cooperation with the Fraunhofer IML in the field of Industry 4.0 has already resulted in a very close partnership between the companies in recent years. BEULCO will promote the development and distribution of new intelligent, digital products and systems for water supply at the new location.
