Community Event – Hula.Hub

The Digital.Hub Logistics Dortmund launched its first community event series. In three consecutive dates, we combined digitalisation with a trend sport – the Hula Hoop – in our hub. On 15th November 2018 we started at 4 pm with the challenge: Build your own Hula Hoop and develop a concept to enhance it digitally. Coders, tinkerers, creative people and sports fanatics formed interdisciplinary teams to work on the digital refinement of the Hula Hoops. The concepts ranged from lighting elements to gamification approaches to a built-in lap counter. The main Goal was networking.
 

The series continued on 29 November at 6 p.m. at the Research Centre of the Chair of Material Handling and Warehousing. The Hula Hoops were digitally pimped and became the MVP (Minimal Viable Product). During a training with a professional coach, the participants learned a lot of cool tricks and moves with the Hula Hoop. The finale took place on December 13th at 4 pm. Here the participants presented their results in a cozy atmosphere and exchanged ideas with the other teams. With mulled wine and biscuits there was enough time to develop further joint project ideas.
